First Taste

Herewith the first taste to our blog, its name and authors.

What is the blog about?
This is a blog about FOOD; the everyday stuff that goes through your body. We will review food sold, raved and our personal favourites from all around Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley. Furthermore LB will also share with you his personal adventure in making foooooddd.

Who are the bloggers?
There are 2 of us; a boy and a girl, friends since primary school but as fate have it we become close buddies after graduation. I think that's where we are financially independent to go around enjoying food and noted that we share very similar palate for good taste!

As both of our initial is 'AL', we have shortened it as 'L'.
LB - blogger boy
LG - blogger girl
In other way to say Life's Best and Life's Good with food.

Also in many occasions, you'll see guest appearance of;
LGB - (no, it's not lesbian, gay or bi-sexual =.=) It means LG's Bear aka her hubby.
LGBB - LG's up and coming BABY! (as of time of writing, LG is 9.5 months pregnant!)

LB is the creative one while LG is *ahem* somewhat the organised one. Hence you'll see a lot of rules and formatting from LG. -.-!!!

Why 'The 5th taste'?
We come to like the theme of MSG (monosodium glutamate) that suits a food blog and we try to play around with name that shares the same acronym. Until we really understand the meaning of MSG as quoted in msgtruth.org
Free glutamic acid is detected by the taste buds as a simple way to signal the presence of protein in a food, just as there are fat receptors to detect fats and receptors that sense carbohydrate or sweet flavors. The purpose is to help us discern real food from inedible matter.  It changes your perception of not simply taste but the nutritious qualities of what you put into your mouth.
This opens up to an idea that there is a fifth taste sense which is called umami in Japanese. With that we hope each food that we found can be a revolutionary 5th taste. Well also we like the luxurious sound of it like Saks 5th Ave. LOL
Yet, we're still the Manglish speaking, hawker frequenting and mamak loving typical Malaysian.

Where is the blog based in?
Mainly near to places we stay and work ie. Damansara, PJ, Shah Alam, Klang and Seri Kembangan.

How to refer to this blog?
In each food review post, we will include the tag of food category (Breakfast, lunch or etc.), cuisine (local being Malaysian delights!), dining style, place and observing we're in a Muslim country we will try our best to categorise the post as pork or pork-free. Not qualify as JAKIM to call them halal (kosher) or not. Hopefully these tags will help serves you better in searching for food in your area.

Happy food hunting!
